We Aim Our Lil "Arrows" at Following Jesus & Seeing Him as Their Supreme Treasure!
Cornerstone's Children’s Ministries function under the leadership of Sonya Powell. The program is staffed by volunteers from within the church who have been vetted by the pastor/deacons and with a thorough background check according to our Child Protection Policy.
The following ministries are the essential elements of our children’s educational program.
Nursery: We have a rotation of workers as well as weekly volunteers who minister to our youngest children while parents attend Sunday School and the worship service on Sunday mornings.
Sunday School: 9:30 - 10:30 on Sundays. Our Children’s Sunday School department is divided into age-appropriate classes. (Pre-K, Kindergarten, grade 2, and grades 3-5). Our Sunday school uses unit studies chosen to provide a good biblical foundation for our children. We strive to teach in a creative and flexible environment that allows for interruptions that may lead to deeper learning.
Children’s Church: Our children participate in the worship portion of the service, but those up to 4 years of age have the option to either stay in the sanctuary for the sermon, or go to Children’s Church when the sermon begins. Our Children’s Church is an exciting time to explore the works of our God through learning deep truths in the Word of God. This study time is relevant, fun, and interactive.
TEAM KID: 6-7:00 pm every Wednesday children in pre-K through 5th grade meet to further develop their knowledge of the Bible and their understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus through TEAM KID curriculum and catechisms. The overarching focus is to guide our children in a deeper understanding of how to apply God’s Word to their lives. TEAM "Kids In Discipleship" is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and to grow in a relationship with Him. Structured time units of Bible study, Scripture memory, mission activities, life application, and recreation are woven together each time we meet so that the theme (or the "Big Truth") for the night is carried throughout as the children move from one learning activity to the next.
Expectations for those serving in CFC’s Children’s Ministries:
If you are interested in serving in the Children’s Ministries area of our church, please read the following:
- This is a ministry of commitment. If we are striving to teach our children the importance of being accountable, we too must show this in our zeal and dedication to the ministry.
- All workers and volunteers must be members of CFC and submit to a background check as well as adhere to our Child Protection Policy and our general Policies and Procedures.
- Be prepared to be a mentor and a role model to the children you teach. They look to us to lead them and they watch how we live our lives.
We partner with Haywood Bible Clubs and Lead the Bible Club at Hazelwood Elementary.
Please pray for children to be saved and families to be churched!
